What is Tier 4 (General) student visa?
Tier 4 (General) student visa is a points-based visa system. This category is for students coming to the UK for post-16 education. In order to apply a Tier 4 (General) visa, the student must be at least 16 years old. And most importantly obtain 40 points by having a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies – CAS (30 points) and the required level of maintenance funds (10 points).
How can I apply for a Tier 4 student visa from outside the UK?
You can apply the visa by using UKBA’s online application system or by printing the application form and filling it by hand based on the countries listed on UKBA website. You can find further information below:

Can I apply for a Tier 4 student visa from inside the UK?
Yes, you can apply the visa from the UK by completing the Tier 4 (General) student ‘print and send application form’ on the UKBA website. If you choose ‘standard service’ you can post your application form, supporting documents, and then enroll your biometric information, online. If you prefer ‘premium service’ to enroll your biometric information, you can submit your application form and supporting documents in person at one of the UKBA public enquiry offices. Do I have part-time work right if I become a student in an educational institution in the UK?
Yes, you have a right to part-time work. When you get admission in a University (maximum 20 hours per week) or a Public Funded College (maximum 10 hours per week), you will be allowed part-time work during the educational term (and full-time during vacation).
When is the admissions should be made?
The academic terms in the UK universities usually begin on September or October. Therefore, your application procedure should start on the October of the previous year.
